“The Wiggles Sound System: Rave of Innocence” is a Ground Breaking next Step in The Wiggles Musical Odyssey

Artist: The Wiggles & Lenny Pearce Album: The Wiggles Sound System: Rave of Innocence Genre: EDM, Rave, Remix Release Date: April 19th, 2024

Taylor Swift - who? Drake diss track huh? The music industry will never be the same - what?

None of that matters while listening to The Wiggles’ topical, potent, moving new release, "‘The Wiggles Sound System: Rave of Innocence.” It’s a much needed rebuttal to the overcomplexity of the modern day music industry, and it’s just what the doctor ordered. This album is rave remixes of Wiggles songs and classics. “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” “ABC,” and of course, “Fruit Salad” (yummy yummy) are just a few of the powerhouse tracks featured on this album.

The opening track, “The Monkey Dance” is a powerful, tasteful take on modern EDM. Heavy hitting drums and catchy lines abound through the soundscape. “Do the monkey / jump to the front and back / ooh ooh ahh ahh / ooh ooh ahh ahh,” the red wiggle emotes over the trance-inducing instrumental. He willingly falls victim to the “dance moves as the lyrics” cliche, but keeps it fresh via potent metaphor. The listener truly becomes a monkey while doing these moves.

Every track is a head banger - there are no misses. “B.I.N.G.O.” is heavy basses and droning synths setting the atmosphere for an old classic. It feels new and original yet familiar at the same time. “ABC” somehow feels like the first time the ABC song has ever been recorded - a massive accomplishment for any cover, let alone one of the most covered songs of all time.

The stand out track, “Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car” brings the vibe to a new level. Rhythmic switch ups, powerful horns and gripping lyrics paint a picture of a whimsical road trip. “We’re gonna ride the whole day long.” The charm is undeniable, and this one will surely soundtrack this summer.

The Wiggles maintain their position at the apex of music, and secure a spot in the EDM world with this release. We’ll be watching closely to see where they go next in the musical odyssey that they’ve spent so many years crafting.
